A little note from us...
We started Flare Street from mums kitchen table in 2013, then we were lucky enough to showcase at NYFW and again at LFW… it’s such a milestone for us after 13 years to be in the pages of Vogue, next to some of the greats in our industry, and ones that we’ve admired and been inspired by for so long.
When we began our journey in fashion, we knew we wanted it to be sustainably made, just like my Nan used to make clothes and her mum before that. It was never an option to produce en mass, or use methods that harm our earth. We wanted it to be art, that people wore and love, kept forever and felt fabulous in.
In 2013, sustainability was a relatively new term in the fashion scene, Instagram had just started and flares were so scarcely found across the globe. We loved what we did but always behind the scenes made sure it was good for our planet and future generations too. Slowly but surely that became something fashion lovers seeked and we are so proud to say our process has stayed the same the whole way. Our flares are zero waste, slow production, made by hand by our team in Melbourne who have been sewing garments since the 1970’s and are paid Australian wages & super, circular fashion, ethically designed by artists worldwide and made to last. Oh and we offer free repairs so you can keep on grooving for years to come! It’s also why we don’t often do sales, so that we can keep our sewers sewing, our fabric suppliers sourcing and our recycling partners recycling. We’re so grateful and lucky to have Lucy for 8 wonderful years too!!
We also recently successfully won a case with one of the largest global company’s who had stolen and copied our best selling design so we’re celebrating that win too!!
All of this is to say, by the time 1 flare is made, an average of 50 people have been involved in the process and we’re thrilled we get to work with everyone we do and to those who have bought a pair of our flares over the years, thank you so so much!! 💕
