Hell, kühn, schön und ziemlich kurzlebig: The Apple Boutique by The Beatles wurde 1967 vom Designkollektiv The Fool im geschäftigen London entworfen und geführt.
Der Laden wurde von Jenny Boyd, der Schwester von Pattie Boyd, und Pete Shotton, einem Schulkameraden von John Lennon, geleitet. Neben psychedelischer und Vintage-Kleidung verkaufte die Boutique auch Bücher, Musik, spirituelle Gegenstände, Instrumente und Kunst.
Das Konzept des Ladens sah vor, dass alles innerhalb seiner Wände zum Verkauf stand und die lebendige Essenz der Fab Four einfangen und ein kulturelles Zentrum für ihre Freunde und Fans gleichermaßen sein sollte.
Trotz der überwältigenden Popularität der Beatles zu dieser Zeit war die Boutique für Apple Corps letztlich kein Erfolg und musste nach nur acht Monaten ihre Pforten schließen.
Am Schließungstag öffnete die Apple Boutique zum letzten Mal und beschloss, die restlichen Schätze im Laden kostenlos zu verschenken, auf der Basis „ein Artikel pro Person“, können Sie sich das vorstellen??!
Auch wenn ihre Boutique nur von kurzer Dauer war, werden die Mode und der Stil der legendären Beatles mit Sicherheit bis ans Ende der Zeit inspirieren.
