Inspired by Pattie Boyd's collection auction, we're shining the light this month on the creative genius of Thea Porter! Her designs epitomised 1960's bohemia, one-of-a-kind pieces like silk & embroidered caftans, wrap dresses, flowing robes all drawing on inspiration from the Middle East.
The woman who brought the ready to wear bohemian look to the streets of London during the 60’s and 70’s, was none other than Thea Porter. Born in Jerusalem and raised in Syria, she was the embodiment of the bourgeois bohemian of the 1970’s.
She opened her first shop in London in the late 60’s and by the 70’s her clientele included everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Faye Dunaway, Pattie Boyd and even The Beatles.
Many present day fashion brands are still sipping up inspiration from this gorgeous eastern style with an opulent western twist created and epitomised by Thea Porter.
